Bighorn Action is the advocacy branch of the Bighorn Center.  As a 501(c)4, Bighorn Action influences and implements public policy and legislative lobbying and ballot initiatives.

Bighorn is committed to increasing public participation in the political and policy arenas. Whether it is the Bighorn Leadership Development Program or FairvoteColorado.org, Bighorn has and continues to be supportive of opportunities that inform the public about elections and the electoral process. FairVote Colorado Legislative Efforts

The FairVote Colorado project, which helped thousands of Coloradans vote in the 2004 primary and general elections, pointed to the need for important changes in Colorado election law. Since the 2004 election, Bighorn Action has been working to make those changes a reality. Bighorn Action was actively involved with two election reform bills during the 2004 legislative session: SB-198 and SB-206. Thanks in part to the bi-partisan efforts of Senators Ken Gordon, Shawn Mitchell and Ron Tupa and Representatives Alice Madden, Matt Knoedler and Al White along with the hard work of Secretary of State Donetta Davidson and Colorado’s county clerks, both bills have passed the General Assembly and was signed by Governor Owens. more...

Overview: Colorado Economic Recovery Plan

On November 1, 2005 Colorado voters will be asked to approve Referendum C and Referendum D, ballot measures dealing with the state’s fiscal crisis.  The ballot questions represent the compromise reached in March between the state Legislature and the Governor and together are called the Colorado Economic Recovery Plan.  It is a bipartisan plan and will be supported by the broadest and deepest grassroots and business coalition in the state’s history.  more...
